The Reality Party
Human beings are not built to see things as they are. We are inherently tribal. Our automatic, fundamental assumption: Our tribe’s beliefs are right. The beliefs of other tribes are right if they are friends; if they are enemies, their beliefs are probably wrong.
We’re mitigating that problem — at the Reality Party, you can post and discuss:
- Facts and evidence to share that help one political side (in the US) understand the other
- Examples of misunderstandings appearing in other discussion forums such as Reddit and Facebook or real life — and asking for, and suggestions how, those interactions could be improved.
- Anything else that is meant to further the goal of learning how to spread facts and thinking that correspond to reality.
See the [Ideas] section for the ideas behind our mission. And other helpful tools are being added, starting with the Reusable Responses, which will make it easier to keep discussions productive wherever they’re happening online.
Suggested starting points: If you want to go straight to advice about how to engage in online political discussions, see our how-to. To read about the philosophy behind the Reality Party, see the Introduction.
